Installation

Pavel Mrkus was seeking inspiration for his site-specific project called Database in the Klementinum building. The videomapping is beamed on the 30-meters-tall wall of the building of the National Library which serves as a hall comprising typical ticket database of the book fund. The projection utilizes the delineation of the structure of stone walls and combines the approach of videomapping and free art. It works as dynamic light representation of the library data, puts into context networks of the system, searching processes, algorithms and principles of scientific sorting of information. Furthermore, the installation relativizes enthusiasm from creation and extension of vulnerable parallel virtual databases that currently happens all over the world.
