About project

Fred Penelle and Yannick Jacquet from the ANTIVJj visual label provide a moment to pause and take a breath in today’s fast-paced time. The wall has been taken over by a silhouette of an enigmatic chimera, some unknown machine, resembling experiments in a peculiar lab or mysterious encrypted messages.

The structure connects individual components as cogwheels of an accurate clock machine. Each link has its start and end, all of them are however being tangled in a complicated labyrinth of contexts. The entire scene consists of countless individual stories which gradually fit into each other as a thriller. However, it is not easy to watch it as the viewer gets lost in tangled graphs every now and then and searches for the right direction again.

The Mécaniques Discursives installation refers to the Gutenberg’s time of freshly discovered mechanical printing as well as to the digital present time dominated by big data. Two fundamentally different epochs which nevertheless are connected through technology intervention.
