Joanie Lemercier

/FR/ French artist Joanie Lemercier often focuses in his work on light in spaces and its effect on our perceptions. Already during his studies, he became interested in physical structures, geometry, models, and minimalistic forms. He later began playing with these structures from a physical and philosophical point of view. He was interested in how to use light to manipulate the perception of reality. Since 2006, he has been working with light projection. During his career, he has focused on scenography for festivals and architectural projection worldwide. However, in the last five years, he has focused mainly on his artistic installations and gallery work, with which he has been successful and has earned recognition in the international artistic scene. He has exhibited his work in places such as the China Museum of Digital Art, at the Art Basel trade fair in Miami and at the Sundance 2013 film festival.

Nimbes is a breathtaking fifteenminute audiovisual show projected on the interior of a special dome. The projection works with the allencompassing theme of being and existence.
The monumental dome on which Nimbes is projected evokes a church’s holy space and the roof of a planetarium. The impression from the deep philosophical topic of the projection is therefore enhanced by its own space.
