Discover the visual identity of Signal Festival 2025

9. 9. 2025 → SIGNAL 2025

This is the face of Signal Festival 2025

The visual for the 13th annual Signal Festival, which takes place from October 16th to 19th this year, depicts a futuristic android whose body and mind are connected to natural elements. Shiny metal and digital structures blend with organic details—a butterfly, a wildflower, or a tangle of nerve connections resembling roots.

The android represents a possible future in which technology, nature, and humans are interconnected in a harmonious unity; however, in some visual variants, it is replaced by its outdated version or completely different entities. The final image was created by combining AI generation with vector and 3D graphics.

This year’s theme → Solutions

Feelings of uncertainty about the future are becoming increasingly common topics of conversation, whether they concern the environment, energy sources, political developments, social radicalization, or armed conflicts. We balance our inner turmoil with nature, interpersonal relationships, entertainment, trust in scientific technology, and the pure idealism of art.

Solutions are unpredictable—like the butterfly effect, where even the smallest impulse can have unexpected consequences. The festival focuses on the interconnectedness of the world, in which technology, nature, and humans form a single whole.

What lies within? Perhaps an answer. Perhaps just another question.

Who stands behind the visual identity of Signal Festival?

The graphic trio of Jan Brož, Jan Novák, and Jiří Macků has been responsible for the visual identity of the Signal Festival for several years. This year, they once again incorporated AI into the creative process, reflecting the festival’s three-year curatorial concept – Ecosystems.

Jan Brož collaborates with cultural institutions such as the National Gallery in Prague. For example, he created the spatial and graphic design for the permanent exhibitions Architecture for All and The End of the Black-and-White Era. For several years, he was also the Art Director of the FUTURA Center for Contemporary Art, and he co-founded the Parallel Practice studio.

Jan Novák is a typographer, author of fonts for MeetFactory and Okolo magazines, and a creative artist focused on branding for clients such as La Bottega, Pigmentarium, and the Pro arte investment fund. He is the co-founder of the AllCaps font foundry. He created the San Sebastian font exclusively for the Signal Festival, which you may recognize from all graphic outputs.

Jiří Macků, who graduated from the Studio of Graphic Design and New Media at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague in 2023, came up with a design for a futuristic android this year. Among other things, he is a graphic designer for the Czech branch of the technology magazine WIRED.
