We are incredibly proud to announce that the SIGNAL Festival has won a NUMIX Award 2024 in the category of International Digital Art for the exhibition Strange Attractions, presented during the 2024 edition of the festival. This landmark project was created in collaboration with the legendary British studio United Visual Artists (UVA) and the visionary team at Kunsthalle Praha.

The NUMIX Awards, held annually in Québec, Canada, are among the most respected honors in the field of digital creativity, recognizing outstanding work in immersive experiences, digital storytelling, interactive media, and multimedia art. The awards are judged by panels of professionals from across the cultural and digital industries—making this recognition a deeply meaningful peer acknowledgment.
Strange Attractions explores the delicate boundary between order and chaos. Drawing from the unpredictability of chaos theory and the structured patterns it can produce, the exhibition invites viewers to consider how natural systems, social dynamics, and artistic processes are shaped by invisible forces and initial conditions. Through this lens, UVA presents a powerful meditation on how these principles play out in our increasingly complex world.
At the heart of the exhibition was a kinetic horizontal double pendulum, which serves as both a scientific instrument and an artistic centerpiece. As the pendulum swings, its movements are captured in real-time and translated into dynamic projections across the gallery walls—bridging the tangible and the intangible, the physical and the digital. The result is an experience that unfolds through time and motion, offering a visceral reflection of the chaos/order dichotomy.
The exhibition also featured three additional works—Present Shock, Etymologies, and Serendipity—each of which explores these themes across different conceptual dimensions: from the construction of language, to socioeconomic systems, to the perception of time and space.

Founded by artist Matt Clark, UVA has long been celebrated for blending cutting-edge technology with sculpture, sound, and movement, creating experiences that challenge how we perceive the world. Their work has been exhibited at institutions such as the Barbican, the Royal Academy of Arts, the Serpentine Gallery, and internationally from Tokyo to Sydney.
Winning a NUMIX Award is a tremendous milestone—not only for SIGNAL Festival but for Czech digital culture as a whole. This award places Strange Attractions among the world’s most original and impactful digital art projects of the year, and we’re honored to be part of that global conversation.
A huge thank-you to UVA, Kunsthalle Praha, and our entire creative and production team. And to our audience: thank you for joining us in exploring new ways of seeing and experiencing the world.
