David Černý (CZ) → Speederman

About project

Four-meter high Speederman sculpture depicts a naked figure of a superhero, visibly frozen in inhumanly fast motion. It may thus represent a metaphor for human evolution and aesthetic ideals of the human body, but also a commentary to the accelerated rythm of life in the current new technologies era.

Speederman was presented within the second issue of SIGNAL festival in a world premiere.

About artist

David Černý’s work is always widely discussed for the delicate topics it touches. This controversial aspect might make Černý one of the best-known Czech contemporary artists.
