Gallery Zone: 7 reasons to buy tickets for Signal Festival

  • Kunsthalle Praha

Lunchmeat, a creative studio and collective of independent artists, will present The Grief of Misfit Cathedrals, an audiovisual project exploring abandoned industrial complexes that have long since lost their original purpose. The inevitably disappearing past is preserved in immersive works using 3D scans and multi-channel spatial sound.

  • Church of the Salvator

The creators Michal Rataj, Jan Trojan and their collaborators have captured in their sound installation unique imprints of ecosystems disappearing under the relentless layer of technological noise. They focus on the sounds around Lipnice Castle and St. Margaret's Church, using them to reflect the relationship between landscape and man.The installation will be complemented by a light object by scenographer Dragan Stojcevski.

  • Campus Hybernská

3dsense, a creative studio combining art and new technologies, has created an interactive exhibition designed for children visiting the festival. It is inspired by the rainbow and its characteristic colour gradient, making the whole space close to op-art. The whole free movement area encourages visitors to create their own space-time games.

  • Prague City Museum

Laterna magika returns to the Signal Festival after last year's success, this time with a special project to celebrate 60 years of existence. It charts the technological and ideological milestones of the creation that gave birth to the ensemble as a unique media laboratory. The dancers interact with objects, use archival technologies and explore current and future scenographic principles, including artificial intelligence.

  • Holešovice Market Hall - Hall 13

Spanish audiovisual studio Playmodes is behind the biggest installation of this year's festival. Horizon is an immersive installation that plays with the limits of our perception of space. It opens up a magical world expanding the seemingly self-evident reality. Light, sound, space and perspective meet in a single imaginary vanishing point, offering a journey beyond the limits of physical reality.

  • Primary School and Kindergarten at Lyčkovo Square

Rafael Lozano-Hemmer created Thermal Drift, an interactive installation visualizing body heat using a thermal camera and particle system. While thermal cameras can be used by police or armies for surveillance, here their use is playful, painting portraits of viewers using their own body temperature.

  • Invalidovna

Creative coder Ksawera Kirklewski's interactive light installation Flux is constructed from 800 meters of double-sided LED strips, a high-frequency infrared camera, and a sound system. With the help of these, he poses a question to the audience about the boundaries of virtual and physical reality.
