About project

Our vision of the world depends on light. As human beings, we perceive essentially only what is visible. The eye thus becomes an instrument for interpreting reality in all its forms and colours. But is this true? Is it enough? How do animals perceive the world around them? Is the eye really a source of illusion? Can we see the real truth? And are we even sure of our own perception? These are not the only questions posed by the video mapping of the French visual collective AV Extended, accompanied by the music of the Czech music producer Aid Kid. The projection thus represents an imaginary handover of the French and Czech presidencies of the Council of the European Union.

The international programme of Signal Festival 2022 is supported by the PPF Foundation.

About artist

The AV Extended collective consists of architects, graphic designers, musicians and engineers. Using new technologies and art they deliver an immersive architectural experience. Standing at the intersection of the real and virtual worlds, they are dedicated to creating works of art through which they seek to improve or reveal the relationship between architecture and human society. The key figure of the collective is digital artist and architect Jérémie Bellot, who designs and produces architectural, light and sound installations and is concerned with the role of light and the perception of the environment through immersive audio-visual works.

Aid Kid (Ondra Mikula) a Czech musician, producer and DJ. His self-released eponymous debut album got him instant recognition with the critics and the Vinyla award for Discovery of the Year. Apart from his solo work, he is part of the bands Kittchen and Zvíře jménem Podzim and an audiovisual collective Lunchmeat. As a composer, he is frequently working with theatre, film or contemporary artists. His second album, Cinematographer's Journal, a found-footage documentary OST, represents a momentary twist in Aid Kid's work from club inspired tracks to sounds of piano, strings and other acoustic instruments in minimal compositions. On the third album, Collection, Aid Kid decided to finish all the unfinished tracks from the past years. Lately he established himself as a sought-after producer, working with some of the best CZ/SK artists, including Katarzia and Lenka Dusilová.
