Nonotak (FR/JP) → Convergence

About project

The audiovisual installation Convergence is formed by a simple geometric structure of LED light rods. Twenty-three blue Xes are embedded in the industrial atmosphere of an eight-meter tunnel made from three storage containers. This X motif in its representation by the duo NONOTAK is fresh and new, and selected for a purpose, evoking a variety of associations such as the mathematical symbol for multiplication or the designation of a location on a map.

About artist

The Franco-Japanese studio NONOTAK was founded in 2011 by illustrator Noemi Schipfer and architect and musician Takami Nakamoto. Since 2013 they have created light and sound installations recognisable for the dreamy environments they create. In so doing they combine Takami's relationship to space and sound with Noemi's experience with kinetic visuals. Their work has been featured at a number of festivals in Europe and Asia, as well as in galleries and other cultural institutions.
