About project

A good disco is a triumph of energy, movement, light, and sound, a pulsing ecosystem where individuals, liberated from convention, revel in their hunger for life. But what if a disco isn’t all that good? It decays into a wilting jungle, thick with shadows where lost rays timidly flicker through. Wandering predators chase the mirage of the perfect partner—someone who will fall for them and them alone. It becomes a lost hunt, a comic ritual repeating endlessly, as if it had purpose, as if a kindred soul might still be found, as if, out of three dancers, a couple might yet emerge. As if no one had to end up alone.

By its very nature, a disco is an ecosystem, a functional system of living and non-living components, linked by material exchange, energy flow, and information transfer. Mutual attraction is both the engine and the goal, and the endless iteration of rhythmic movement is the means to achieve it.

This dance performance, choreographed by Viktor Konvalinka and based on a concept by Štěpán Benyovszký, was created for Club Tresor. Lighting design is by Dan Tesař, with music composed by Jan Šikl. Costumes were designed by Tereza Dufková Rumlenová.

Location

The multifunctional space Tresor Club in the center of Prague offers plenty of fun and can be used for organizing corporate events, parties, balls, concerts, festivals, competitions, conferences, weddings and much more. The main hall is dominated by a 200 m² dance floor, where people not only dance but also roller skate. The audiovisual and performative production Lone Soule Disco is inspired by the character of the venue and was created specifically for the club. The story reflects the specific ecosystem of a disco, which does not always have to be successful.
