About project

The installation Lux Domus works with a geometric order of light points arranged within the chapel space. The Latin title can be translated as “home of light.” The architecture of the home offers protection and safety; in a deeper sense, it also refers to the concept of family. The light-based architectural solution in this installation evokes a sense of calm and meditation. As we walk through this luminous labyrinth, we begin to notice how even slight changes in the light and our interactions with it can completely transform our perception of space.

Artist

Josep Poblet is a Spanish artist and designer. After studying economics and music, he turned to design, drawing inspiration from his family trades - the land, machines, the workshop. He often works with light, exploring its physical nature, its capacity for movement, and its role in creating contrast, defining space, and articulating emptiness. He currently combines teaching at design schools with managing his own studio based in Barcelona.

Location

In the heart of Prague’s Vinohrady district stands the Archbishop Grammar School, home to a unique institutional chapel built between 1937 and 1938, based on a design by architect Tomáš Šašek. The chapel is not only the spiritual centre of the school but also a significant example of functionalist sacred architecture. Josep Poblet’s intimate light installation completely fills the chapel space, highlighting its architectural features.
