This year, Signal Festival is teaming up with Radio Wave! As part of festival week, we invite you to Signal Space for live recordings of two popular podcasts exploring topics closely connected to contemporary urban life and today’s cultural scene. Hotspot and Fasády will tackle questions that affect us all, from the urge to share our experiences on social media to the role of light in public spaces.
Hotspot × Signal: If You didn’t take a photo, did it even happen?

In this live recording of Hotspot, a podcast exploring current trends and cultural phenomena, hosts Sarah Abulkasim and Barbora Součková will ask whether a cultural experience even counts today if you don’t have a photo or video of it to share on social media.
Taking photos and sharing them online have become an integral part of going to concerts and exhibitions. These posts help us preserve our memories, but they also communicate our taste, cultural capital, and sense of belonging to a particular scene.
The discussion will explore how the urge to document everything is changing the way we experience culture, how audiences relate to art, and how artists communicate with their audiences. How do we navigate the space between the stage, the gallery, and social media, where capturing attention is becoming almost as important as the art itself?
Fasády × Signal: Light in the city

The Fasády podcast explores architecture, public space, and the relationship between cities and the people who live in them. For its collaboration with Signal Festival, the podcast will turn its attention to the role of light in the urban environment.
Light shapes not only what we see at night, but also how we navigate the city, perceive different places, and feel in them. Pavel Mrkus, chief curator of Signal Festival, and Hynek Medřický, an expert on light pollution, will discuss how we can use light thoughtfully in urban spaces and where to draw the line between a well-lit city and one that is simply too bright.
Both live recordings will take place at Signal Space, located on Rytířská Street in Prague 1. Admission is free.
Can’t make it in person? You can listen to both podcasts on Radio Wave, too.
