Stars, fire, performances! What will Czech artists bring to Signal Festival?

29. 9. 2025 → SIGNAL 2025

The best of the domestic art scene – Czech artists at the Signal Festival

The Signal Festival is always an opportunity for us to showcase the strength of the Czech digital scene. We want to introduce visitors to various approaches—from light art to multimedia objects and performances.

This year, the program will feature several prominent Czech artists. Their works will be on display primarily along the Vinohrady route, largely belonging to the domestic scene.

Pavla Sceranková → Constellation

Pavla Sceranková is a leading Czech artist. She has long been interested in the role art can play in a world that is confronted daily with the reality of ongoing crises. An interactive work will be created at the lookout point in Riegrovy sady, allowing you to create your own constellations of light. You will become part of the night sky for a moment and connect art with playful participation.

“The Constellation installation is located at the lookout point, a place of close contact with the sky above Prague. This place inspired me to revisit the motif of constellations. There will be three pendulums with circles at their ends. I cordially invite viewers to enter the installation in the spirit of play. The arms of the pendulums can be moved across the sky and at a certain moment they can create the outline of a sphere, perhaps the world. I am curious to see how much this moment could enhance the joy of meeting, perhaps even with people you will never meet again, but for a moment you lit up the sky above Prague together.”

Rafani → Grill Flame

Rafani is an art group that has long worked with public space politics, symbolic gestures, and collective creation. Their projects bring tension between image and action, between aesthetics and civic stance. At Signal Festival, they present a performative installation that combines live action, fire, and social commentary. The work is being created in collaboration with ČT art and promises to be a powerful experience in the streets of Vinohrady. Czech Television is the general media partner of the Signal Festival.

“Rafani have sharp teeth and sharp humor, representing an artistic stance that is not conformist, but knows how to radically deal with pop culture, politics, pathos, kitsch, and commercialism. They are an ideal creative unit whose ferocity perfectly matches one of this year’s festival themes: ‘Attraction‘. Our intention is also to occasionally go beyond the scope of light art in the festival program and give space to installations that connect various artistic disciplines,”

says festival curator Pavel Mrkus about the inclusion of the project in this year’s program.

Collective of Artists (CZ/SK/UA) → Confluence

The work was created in collaboration with the European Co-Vision project and, in addition to the Signal Festival, will also be exhibited internationally. The project reflects the unique landscape of the Moravian Amazon.

It focuses on exploring the unique ecosystem of the confluence of the Morava and Dyje rivers, the largest floodplain forest in Europe. The confluence of the rivers is not only a place of fragile natural processes, but also a key part of Central Europe’s landscape heritage.

Viktor Konvalinka & Štěpán Benyovszký → Lone Soul Disco

The disco as a triumph of movement, light, and sound—a pulsating ecosystem in which individuals give free rein to their hunger for life. But what if it fails? It turns into a decaying jungle where dancers wander among illusions of ideal partners and repeat the comical ritual of searching for a soul mate.

The performance at Tresor Club combines Viktor Konvalinka’s choreography with Štěpán Benyovszký’s theme, Dan Tesař’s lighting design, and Jan Šikl’s music. The result is a hypnotic experience that oscillates between euphoria and melancholy – a never-ending iteration of rhythms, movements, and relationship dynamics. Lone Soul Disco can be found in the paid section of Signal INSIDE.

Jan Poš → The Myth of Hyperreality

In the Klausen Synagogue, the physical and digital worlds merge into an experimental laboratory. The installation explores the phenomenon of hyperreality—a state in which it is no longer possible to clearly distinguish between the real and the virtual.

Visitors find themselves in the role of scientists-archaeologists who uncover hidden processes inside a mysterious meteorite object. The installation is made possible thanks to the support of the Jewish Museum in Prague. Thank you!

Antonín Kindl → EYE

This year’s winner of the Signal Calling open call, organized in collaboration with PrusaLab, Josef Průša’s prototype workshop, is Antonín Kindl, a student at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. Antonín combines technology with art in his work, creating “living” electronic organisms and exploring the limits of human perception.

EYE is an interactive object inspired by computer vision and machine learning that will respond to its surroundings and invite viewers to think about how machines perceive the world. The installation is sponsored by Refresher magazine.

Brand and art → Signal Festival partner installations

Partner installations bring new formats, technologies, and unexpected experiences, demonstrating that commercial collaboration can have real added value.

“The main producer is our creative studio, Signal Creative. We are one of the largest domestic producers of new art. Every year, we invite interesting artists and studios from the field to collaborate on our works, such as Monument Office with Václav Mlynář, Alex J. Jindrák, Johana Kroft, and others,”

says Eva Šlezáková, partnership manager at Signal Festival. This year, partner installations are provided by Mercedes-BenzSazka, which is part of Allwynglo™, and Allegro.
