Milan Cais (CZ) → Charles’ Guard

About project

The installation entitled Charles’s Guard is an imaginary continuation of the Night Guard installationthat was installed on the roof or the Goethe Institute in Prague in 2000. Installation of a large mobile eyeball under the gothic arches of the Charles Bridge Towers creates an absurd, slightly upsetting view of one of the most important Prague monuments. Within the context of the old architecture and a contemporary visual treatment of a human eye detail, the installation should give an impression of being in contrast and in harmony at the same time. There are two towers and two eyes.
