About project
The Karel Studio at the Institute of Design, Faculty of Architecture, Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU), presents Impulse, a light installation created together by the studio’s graduates and current collaborators. In this work, the Impulse is light that descends along a vertical axis toward the ground, where it cumulates, persists, and radiates into the surrounding space. This movement evokes a nerve impulse, an electrical discharge, the flow of information, urban infrastructure, and the invisible connections that link people, disciplines, and institutions. The Impulse thus represents knowledge as a continuous process of transmission, accumulation, and further sharing.
The installation was developed and tested at the Institute of Intermedia, whose studio generously provided the facilities and space needed for its realisation.
This year’s festival theme, Dream On! Dreams and Visions, invites audiences to imagine the future and push the boundaries of technological and scientific possibility. Student Visions offer a glimpse into the experimental laboratories of a new generation of artists, designers and scientists. Four selected student projects bring together art, technology and scientific research, presenting their latest work through performances, projections, objects and interactive environments.
